Overview
Jonah Godfrey, TRCC Student

“I transferred to Three Rivers and changed my focus because the architecture classes inspired my interest. It has given me a lot of new energy. It’s a rare and interesting opportunity to study architecture at a community college and be able to then continue on to a four-year institute that specializes in it.”
Jonah Godfrey, Construction Technology, A.A.S.

This program extends opportunities for those interested in the design and construction of the built environment, preparing students for transfer into baccalaureate and professional-degree architecture programs or for entry-level technical positions in architecture, engineering or construction firms.

The program builds mastery of valuable skill-sets, first establishing techniques in traditional (board) and then state-of-the-art (CAD ad Revit) drafting, then expands the technical core that includes blueprint reading, construction materials, codes and regulations, and typical project documentation.  Students elect a concentration in architecture or construction management, tracking students through a sequence of architecture courses that explore creativity, exercise the design process and problem-solving skills, and instills the values of sustainable and responsible site design and development or; tracking through a sequence of construction courses that explore project estimating, sequencing logistics and management.

Upon completion, students will have built a portfolio of work to be used for transfer or to pursue an entry-level technical position in an architecture, engineering or construction firm, municipal building and planning offices, transportation, utility, and construction material industries.
