Three Rivers Community College offers in-person/on-campus or virtual tests for the following:  Accuplacer (placement test), CLEP, CSA*K105 Challenge Exam, DSST (Dantes), and TEAS.

Accuplacer Testing

TEAS Testing

The TEAS (Test of Essential Academic Skills) is for nursing students and measures your basic essential skills in the academic content areas of Reading, Mathematics, Science, and English and Language Usage. Your TEAS tests scores must be received by the Nursing Application deadline of February 1. CLEP Testing

The CLEP (College-Level Examination Program®) helps you receive college credit for what you already know, for a fraction of the cost of a college course. CLEP exams test your mastery of college-level material acquired in a variety of ways — through general academic instructions, significant independent study or extracurricular work. DSST Testing

If experience is the world’s greatest teacher, then your experiences may well qualify you for college credit. The nationally recognized DSST (DANTES Subject Standardized Test) Program helps you receive college credits for learning acquired outside the traditional classroom through a suite of more than 30 exams in college subject areas such as Social Sciences, Math, Applied Technology, Business, Physical Sciences and Humanities. CSA*K105 Challenge Exam

The CSA*K105 Challenge Exam is designed for any student who is interested in challenging or testing out of the course, CSA*K105 – Introduction to Software Applications. This test examines the student’s knowledge of each of the four Office tools:  Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Access. Who takes the Accuplacer Placement Test?

The Accuplacer placement exam is used only in extenuating circumstances when a student does not have access to a high school transcript and/or SAT/ACT scores to determine course placement (this usually applies to home-schooled students or students who graduated from high school some time ago). Documentation of previously earned college-level credits will also assist with math and/or English course placement.

What is the Accuplacer Placement Test used for?

This test helps academic advisors gain information about your college readiness in math and English. Additional advising tools used to gauge your college readiness include high school transcripts (within past 5 years), SAT and/or ACT scores (if available) and any relevant work experience.

What is the test format?

It is a computerized self-paced multiple-choice test. The questions are divided into:

READING – 31%

What is considered passing?

An adjusted individual total score of 53.3% or higher is considered passing for admission into the CT-CCNP’s nursing program. A passing TEAS score does not guarantee admission. Test scores are valid for five years. Older versions will not be accepted. Please refer to https://www.ct.edu/files/pdfs/nursing-info-packet.pdf for additional information about our nursing program.

Where can I take the TEAS?

You can take the TEAS test at TRCC or anywhere it is offered whether virtual or in-person and have your scores sent directly to us.

How do I schedule the TEAS test?

All registrations for TEAS must be done through the ATI website.

Create an account and schedule the test at: www.atitesting.com. When you set up your account, please indicate Three Rivers as your Institution and use your TRCC Banner/Student ID number (ex. @01234567) as the Student/Employee ID.

NOTE: You must register at least two days before the test date. Please check the ATI website for availability. It will say SOLD OUT if it is full. If you do not see the date that fits your schedule, check back for additional test dates.

What happens if TRCC is closed the day of my test?

If TRCC is closed, we will reschedule your TEAS test.

What version of the test is acceptable?

Scores will be accepted from the TEAS V and the newer version, ATI TEAS.

What is the cost to take the TEAS test?

The cost to take the TEAS® is $81.00. Payments are made directly to ATI via their website when you register for the test. Debit and credit cards are the only form of payment accepted.

There is a non-refundable Three Rivers’ Administration teas testing fee of $15 per test session for all Connecticut Community College and University examinees and $35 for all other examinees.

Credit card, check or money order payable to: Three Rivers Community College Cashier’s Office prior to the time of your test.

How many times can I take the TEAS?

You can take the TEAS as many times as you like. You must pay for each test and have your scores sent to your school of first choice. We will only consider your highest score.

How do I get my DSST score?

Unofficial online score reports are produced immediately after you finish your test. Your official score reports are mailed to your school of choice (selected at the time of testing).

    • Effective July 1, 2022, the new CLEP® exam fee will be $90. The current $89 fee will still apply to all exams purchased through June 30, 2022.

CSA*K105

CSA*K105 Challenge Exam Frequently Asked Questions

Who Takes CSA*K105 Challenge Exam?

Any student who has not previously enrolled in, withdrew from, or failed the CSA*K105 course and has been granted prior permission is eligible to take this exam.  Contact Professor Mark Comeau for information.

What is the CSA*105 Challenge Exam used for?

The CSA*K105 Challenge Exam is used to enable eligible students to ‘test out’ of the CSA*K105 (Introduction to Software Applications) course by attaining an overall score of 65% and at least 55% for each individual section.

How do I schedule the CSA*105 Challenge Exam?

Students should sign up at www.timecenter.com/trcc under Makeup, Challenge, and Special Accommodation Testing. In comment box, please note “CSA*K105 Challenge Exam.” Other appointments may be scheduled directly with the Testing Center at 860-215-9061 (pending proctor availability).

Where do I take the CSA*105 Challenge Exam?

You will take the test on campus in the Testing Center, Room A117.  Students are allotted three hours to complete this exam and it can only be taken once.

How do I prepare for the CSA*105 Challenge Exam?

Students should review the textbook for the CSA*105 course covering Microsoft Office 2016 prior to the test. There are three copies of the text available in the TRCC library. The questions are based on the material in each of the first two chapters from the text for each technology area (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Access) for a total of eight chapters. The questions are task-oriented and structured very similar to the Capstone questions at the end of each of these eight chapters.

The test is corrected by computer so you need to be careful and answer the questions very precisely and accurately in order to receive full credit.

What do I need the day of the test?

The completed Application for Credit by Exam form stamped with a $15 proctoring receipt from the TRCC Cashier’s Office and a photo ID should be presented when entering the Testing Center. A face mask is also currently required inside Three Rivers.
