I am the first in my family to earn a college degree.

Yes

I wanted to earn my degree because:

I was a teenage mom and therefore had to wait to go to college. Just as I started school in 1999, I was diagnosed with Ovarian Cancer. It was a battle which I overcame with Faith, family, and friends. I was in full treatment from 1999 through 2014. Today I am cancer free. I restarted my journey to college in 2016 with purpose to complete my assignments.

While earning my degree, my greatest supporters were:

My greatest supports are my family, my best friend of 30 years Michelle Lowe, Marcia and Howie Brensilver, (Parents), Kim and Roy Starks, Sandra and Kelly Walker, my Pastors Johnny and Sharon Burns of New Life Christian Fellowship, Ledyard, CT, Kathleen Gray, Terri Debarros Veda Wellington, Kenneth Briggs, and Gloria Dover.

I’d like to give a shout out to:

my son Michael Schneider and Michelle Lowe.

What I like best about my degree program and what it means to me is:

What I like most is the fact that I completed a project! There is a piece of freedom connected to this degree because I am the only one in my family that received a degree.

What I enjoyed most about my experience at Three Rivers Community College was:

What I enjoyed most was the relationships I built! I made connections that will last a life time. The overall experience both as a student and as a student worker was wonderful!

Clubs, volunteer work, organizations that I participated in while at Three Rivers included:

I had the opportunity to work in the registrar's office as a student worker; it was the best experience ever! I learned so much and formed lasting relationships with students and staff that I would not have experienced otherwise.

I plan to use my degree to:

Enhance my wealth of knowledge in the medical field. I plan on furthering my education by obtaining my Bachelors degree in Healthcare Management/administration.

Now that I have completed college, I’m most looking forward to:

a little bit of freedom through adding my degree to my resume!

What I’ll miss most about Three Rivers is:

Students, staff, and the interactions with everyone! I had a great experience both as a student and as a student worker.
