I wanted to earn my degree because:

As a single mother of three, I put my life on hold to provide and create a better way of living for my children. College was not an option as I worked three jobs to maintain my family. I went back to school in 2016 when my youngest daughter graduated and it took me six years to achieve this goal. I persevered to show my daughters, friends, and family that no matter what happens in life never give up on yourself and your dreams, no matter your age. I am now 50 years old receiving my Associates, and I will be continuing on with my education in pursuit of my Bachelors. Learning has become my passion and drive; it will be part of my lifelong journey!

While earning my degree, my greatest supporters were:

While earning this degree my biggest supporters were my mother, my daughters, my husband, and my close friends.

I’d like to give a shout out to:

To my amazing daughters who have persevered through life with me and in this journey. My husband for his patience as it took many long nights by my computer studying and doing homework. My siblings for always telling me how proud they were of me that truly pushed me to never want to quit.

What I like best about my degree program and what it means to me is:

This degree is just the beginning for me as it was needed to enter into the educational system. My passion is to one day become a teacher or school social worker because the need is becoming greater within our school system.

What I enjoyed most about my experience at Three Rivers Community College was:

I enjoyed the teachers I have met; they all were absolutely amazing! The staff became like family. I knew a few by face, some became friends, and others supported me and cheered me on in this journey. They truly were my silent supporters without even knowing it.

I plan to use my degree to:

Use it as a stepping stone toward continuing my education and finding future employment opportunities.

Now that I have completed college, I’m most looking forward to:

Pursuing my bachelors degree.

What I’ll miss most about Three Rivers is:

I will remain at Three Rivers another three semesters pursuing my Associates in Teaching as I am 17 credits away.
