Career Training Courses Starting in February and March

Student in Real Estate ClassThree Rivers Community College is offering a variety of non-credit training courses for those interested in expanding their skills or changing career paths. Registration is still open on the 13 courses below. Whether a person has the goal of learning new skills, reinventing their career, or personal enrichment, taking a non-credit course will fit their needs.

 

Allied Health courses in some of the fastest growing careers in Connecticut

EKG Technician — Mondays and Wednesdays, February 21 – May 7. Registration deadline is February 14.

Computers in the Medical Office — Wednesdays, February 14 – May 30. Registration deadline is February 7.

Certified Nurse Aide (CNA) — Tuesdays and Thursdays, March 6 – May 29. Registration deadline is February 27.

American Heart Association Heartsaver First Aid CPR AED — This one-day course is held on Friday, March 16 from 9:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. Registration deadline is March 9.

Pharmacy Technician — Tuesdays and Thursdays, March 20 – May 31. Registration deadline is March 13.

Patient Care Technician (PCT) — Tuesdays and Thursdays, March 20 – May 15. Registration deadline is March 13.

American Heart Association Basic Life Support– This one-day course is held on Thursday, April 5 from 9:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. Registration deadline is March 29.

Veterinary courses for professionals and animal lovers

Veterinary Assistant II — Fridays, February 9 – May 18. Registration deadline is February 7.

Animal Husbandry — Fridays, April 6 – June 1. Registration deadline is March 29.

Professional Development courses in Real Estate or Security

Real Estate Principles and Practices — Mondays and Wednesdays, March 5 – May 9. Registration deadline is February 26.

Security Officer Training: Guard Card Certification — Tuesdays and Thursdays, March 6-15.  Registration deadline is February 27.

 Safe Boating classes

Boating Safety — Four 3-day sessions available beginning March 13, April 17, May 15 and June 19. Classes are Tuesday-Thursday.

Piloting and Seamanship — Tuesdays and Thursdays, March 20 – April 12. Registration deadline is March 13.

Connecticut Safe Boating Certificate and Personal Watercraft Operator’s Certificate

This program is taught by volunteers or employees of the Connecticut DEEP Boating Division. It is designed to fulfill the Connecticut Safe Boating Certificate requirements and the Personal Watercraft Operator’s Certificate.

Upon completing the course and final examination, the student can carry the diploma, application for certification, and the appropriate fee to any State DEEP office to obtain the Safe Boating Certificate and/or the Personal Watercraft Operator’s Certificate.

Prerequisites

  1. You must get a Conservation ID number before you start the courses. Directions for getting your Conservation ID are below:
    1. If you have a Connecticut Hunting or Fishing License, your Conservation ID will be the same ID number assigned with the hunting and fishing license.
    2. If you need a Conservation ID number:
      1. Go to the Online Sportsman Licensing –  Scroll to the bottom of the page and hit START.
      2. Go to the search by personal information – you will need to put in either your Social Security# or driver’s license number to see if you are in the system as having a conservation ID previously issued to you. If not, you will go to – Select here to receive your Conservation ID only for an Education Course Registration, and complete the registration process. Follow the instructions for “New Customers.”
      3. Print out your Conservation ID profile and bring it to your class.
  2. You will need to provide your Conservation ID number and your date of birth for the class roster.

  • Instruction Method: LRON (Live Remote) – These classes are similar to traditional classes except fully online. You attend LRON classes at the scheduled times with your professor and classmates in a Zoom-like session. For more information about Instructional Methods, visit here.
