Registration Still Open for Security Guard Training Starting Tuesday, October 16

Considering a career as a Security Officer? Space is still available in the non-credit Security Officer Training: Guard Card Certification course that begins Tuesday, October 16. The course is eight-hours long and is required by the state of Connecticut for employment as a security officer. It costs $125 and is held Tuesdays and Thursdays, October 16-25 from 6:00-8:00 pm. The course is WIOA and SNAP eligible.

Students learn a brief history of security, basic criminal justice, use of force, search and seizure, public safety, emergency response and more. Students will take the state certification exam. They must complete the exam with a 70% or better passing score to be eligible to receive the Security Officer Identification Card, which is an additional fee.

Student in Real Estate Class Three Rivers Community College is offering a variety of non-credit training courses for those interested in expanding their skills or changing career paths. Registration is still open on the 13 courses below. Whether a person has the goal of learning new skills, reinventing their career, or personal enrichment, taking a non-credit course will fit their needs.

Allied Health courses in some of the fastest growing careers in Connecticut

EKG Technician — Mondays and Wednesdays, February 21 – May 7. Registration deadline is February 14.

Computers in the Medical Office — Wednesdays, February 14 – May 30. Registration deadline is February 7.

Certified Nurse Aide (CNA) — Tuesdays and Thursdays, March 6 – May 29. Registration deadline is February 27.

American Heart Association Heartsaver First Aid CPR AED — This one-day course is held on Friday, March 16 from 9:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. Registration deadline is March 9.

Pharmacy Technician — Tuesdays and Thursdays, March 20 – May 31. Registration deadline is March 13.

Patient Care Technician (PCT) — Tuesdays and Thursdays, March 20 – May 15. Registration deadline is March 13.

American Heart Association Basic Life Support –– This one-day course is held on Thursday, April 5 from 9:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. Registration deadline is March 29.

Veterinary Assistant II — Fridays, February 9 – May 18. Registration deadline is February 7.

Boating Safety — Four 3-day sessions available beginning March 13, April 17, May 15 and June 19. Classes are Tuesday-Thursday.
