It’s not too late to file your 2021 taxes. Don’t miss out on new CT Child Tax Rebate!

ALERT: It’s not too late to file your 2021 taxes. Don’t miss out on new CT Child Tax Rebate!

EVEN THOUGH THE TRADITIONAL TAX DEADLINE HAS PASSED, YOU CAN STILL CLAIM THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS IN TAX REBATES!

Connecticut enacted a new Connecticut Child Tax Rebate for income eligible families for 2022. Families can apply starting on June 1, through July 31, 2022 to receive the rebate of up to $250 per child for a maximum of three children. Visit the Connecticut Department of Revenue Services website for more details on the rebate and how to apply, if eligible.

The NEW Connecticut Child Tax Rebate provides $250 per-child tax rebate, for up to three children, for lower and middle earning families. Qualifying households include single tax filers with children with income less than $100,000 and couples filing jointly with children with income less than $200,000. The state will use 2021 tax filings to deliver payments to qualifying families this fall.

Our mission is to advise students as they explore and plan their academic, career, and life goals.

Academic advising services are offered through Guided Pathways Advising at Three Rivers. In a student-centered, personalized model, every degree and certificate seeking student is assigned a Guided Pathways Advisor to assist them in their career and academic exploration and decision-making.  Guided Pathways Advisors encourages all students to utilize the services, which include career exploration, course planning from initial registration to graduation, transfer advising, adding/dropping classes, changing programs of study, course registration assistance and referrals to college and community resources. While advisors guide and support the student, it is the student who assumes responsibility for their individual academic program completion.

Nuclear Scholarship Deadline Extended to MARCH 4

TRCC Nuclear Scholarship Deadline ExtendedApply today — the full Nuclear Scholarship Deadline has been extended to March 4! Complete the online application at www.threerivers.edu/dominion.

The scholarships cover the full cost of tuition, books, and fees for a two-year associate degree program at Three Rivers Community College, starting with the Fall 2022 semester .  Additionally, students receive a $150 per month stipend during the nine-month academic year and have a twelve-week paid internship experience at the Millstone Nuclear Power Station during the summer between their first and second academic year.  This gives the students the opportunity to see nuclear utility operations first hand and develop significant practical work experience.

Through classroom, laboratory, and simulator instruction, this program educates students in the theories underlying the safe operation of nuclear power generating stations. Those opting to enter the workplace as technicians have found their education and experience in strong demand by Connecticut business and industry. Other scholarship recipients, upon completion of the program, have successfully transferred to nuclear engineering and health physics baccalaureate degree programs in state and nationally.

In the News Three Rivers art students showcased at Norwich Arts Center

Norwich (January 6, 2022) — Norwich Arts Center’s Gallery One exhibit in January is dedicated to five star art students at Three Rivers Community College.

“The artists were chosen because they have been doing outstanding work,” said Sandra Jeknavorian, visual fine arts coordinator and art professor at Three Rivers. “Their work represents the kind of assignments we do at the college. Some are beginners, some at the end of their degree program, and one who is an ‘lifelong learner’ senior citizen who is taking the classes for personal enrichment. The exhibit is a great reflection of the diversity of students studying at Three Rivers.”

The five students — Marc Bryan, Robert Lattanzio, Kelsey Ng, Bellana Parungao and Aurora Vennari — will be hanging over 30 works in NAC’s Gallery One, which offers a new exhibit each month. Their artwork includes landscapes, portraits, illustrations and abstracts.

Jeknavorian said she hopes the exhibit helps raise awareness of the arts program at Three Rivers. Students of any skill level, from beginner to accomplished, are welcome to enroll. Many of the classes are conducted online, some at the college. Courses are available individually or as part of an associate’s degree program. The program offers free tuition for individuals who do not have a college degree or are 62 years old or older. More information is available at threerivers.edu.

“There is a misconception that you have to be born with natural talent, which isn’t true,” Jeknavorian said. “All it takes is an interest, a desire to do it, a little encouragement, and learning the fundamentals from an instructor.”

The student exhibit will be officially opened at a reception on Friday, Jan. 7 during Norwich’s downtown First Friday events, 6 to 8 p.m., though the exhibit is available starting the day before, Jan. 6. Most or all of the artists will be present to talk about their work.

CSCC Offers FREE 24/7 Medical and Mental Telehealth Access for Students

As part of Connecticut State Community Colleges’s ongoing efforts to prioritize the health and well-being of the campus community, students now have free and immediate access to medical and mental health support through TimelyMD, the leading telehealth company specializing in higher education. Students can access it at timelycare.com/ctstate.

TimelyMD developed its proprietary TimelyCare technology to offer students a 24/7 extension of campus health and counseling center resources that is as easy and convenient as making a video or phone call. Through the TimelyCare app on their phone or other device, Connecticut State Community Colleges students can now select from a wide-ranging menu of virtual care options from licensed physicians and counselors in all 50 states – at no cost to them and without the hassle of traditional insurance – including:

  • On-demand medical care
  • Appointment-based medical care
  • On-demand mental health support (TalkNow)
  • Appointment-based mental health counseling
  • Health coaching

TimelyCare allows students to see the profiles, faces and specialty care details of a diverse range of licensed physicians and counselors available to them. They can choose to meet with a specific provider or select the first available. Typical consultations begin within 5-10 minutes – less than the amount of time it takes to walk across campus.

Demand for teletherapy visits skyrocketed during the COVID-19 pandemic and continues to be high even as everyday activities resume. Mental health remains the top concern of college and university presidents, and more than 60 percent of students who have sought mental health support from TimelyMD said they would have done nothing if the service were not available to them.

“Similar to food delivery apps or contactless payment, students might not have tried telehealth before the pandemic, and now they can’t imagine life without its ease of use, convenience and immediacy,” said Luke Hejl, TimelyMD CEO and co-founder. “Studies have shown that one of the best ways to keep students engaged, enrolled and on track to graduation is to keep them physically and mentally healthy. Through TimelyCare, we are proud to deliver best-in-class virtual care to help Connecticut State Community Colleges students thrive.”
